THE 22ND ANNUAL WATER EXPERTS CONFERENCE (AWEC 2003)

 

ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

 

The 22nd Annual Water Experts Conference (AWEC 2003) will be held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in Arusha, Tanzania from 17th  - 21st November 2003. This year's theme is Water Industry in the Globalized World.  The conference topics under this theme include, but are not limited to the following:

Papers must relate to the globalization phenomenon sweeping the world today, without losing focus on the water industry.

 

PAPERS AND ABSTRACTS

The general public and water sector personnel are invited to write papers that address any one of the Conference topics.  Intending authors should submit abstracts of not more than 300 words, to reach the Conference Organizers not later than 30th September 2003. Abstracts from women authors are highly encouraged. Papers of the selected abstracts must be submitted by 21st October 2003.  Papers are strictly limited to eight printed pages in standard font 12pt (Times New Roman) including appendices, tables, diagrams and photographs. Abstracts for papers will be published in the Maji Review booklet targeting a circulation of 1000 sector personnel inclusive of conference delegates.

 

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Maji Review booklet carries advertisements on water-related services, works and products. Those interested, including the Sector Institutions and Agencies are invited to advertise by contacting the Conference Organizers.  A reasonable fee of Tshs 300,000/- will be charged for a full colour or black & white A5 page advertisement. 

 

EXPOSITION & POSTERS

A FREE exhibition and posters display of water-related products and services will take place parallel to the conference.  Those interested in exhibiting and displaying posters, at the conference lobby, should contact the Conference Organizers. 

 

SEMINAR

A seminar on the promotion of Rainwater Harvesting will take place during the Conference, on Thursday the 20th of November.

 

PARTICIPANTS

The conference will draw 400 delegates from sector stakeholders within and outside the country including Ministry and its various institutions. Moreover, all District Water Engineers and Managers of the District level Water Boards in Tanzania are invited to the conference. Consultants, Contractors, Manufacturers, Researchers, Academicians, NGOs, CBOs and External Support Agencies and even consumer associations are encouraged to attend.

 

REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is Tshs 100,000/- payable at the registration desk. The Conference will provide tea, coffee, lunch, conference materials and a book of conference papers.
