Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO)

SIDO was established with a mission to promote the development of small scale industries in Tanzania. Recently however, in direct response to growing demand from clients, donors and Government, SIDO progressively engaged itself in supporting micro businesses particularly in the informal sector. Hence, SIDO's new mission is to develop create, promote and sustain, indigenous entrepreneurial base in the small scale industries and micro businesses.

Functions: 

• To promote the development of small industries as well as to plan and coordinate their activities.
• To provide technical assistance, management and consultancy services to small industry enterprises in Tanzania.
• To provide and promote training facilities for persons engaged in or employed or to be employed in small industries and to assist and coordinate activities of other institutions engaged in such training.
