Institute of Education (TIE) was established in 1964 as part of the University
of Dar es Salaam (East African University).
In 1975 it was established as an independent Institution by Parliamentary
Act No. 13 of 1975, and was later called Institute of Curriculum Development and
in 1993 the name changed to Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) .
