Vision

Mission
The vision of VPO is to attain sustainable human development, eradication of poverty, security and equitable use of resources on a sustainable basis to meet the basic needs of the present and future generation without degrading the environment or risking health or safety and also maintain the union between the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Government of Zanzibar. The mission of Vice-President's Office (VPO) is to formulate policies and strategies on poverty eradication, protection of environment and non-governmental organisations as well as coordinate all issues pertaining to the union of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Government of Zanzibar.

Functions
  • Coordination of Union Affairs. Link between Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and Government of Zanzibar for non- Union affairs. Environmental Policy formulation, monitoring and coordination of National Environmental Council activities. Poverty alleviation.
  • Policy and Strategies. Coordination and follow-up of Poverty Alleviation Programmes in various Sectors. Coordination of Non-Governmental Qrganisations and Community-based Organisations (CBOs).

The NGOs Division is responsible for the coordination of NGOs activities in the country and its overall functions of the Division are Policy and regulatory aspects and coordination and monitoring of NGOs activities both international and local.
