Tanzania Industrial Research and Development Organisation (TIRDO)

Mission:
TIRDO's mission is to carry out technological research and capability building so as to facilitate maximum exploitation of locally available natural resources for industrial development and to become an International Centre of Excellence in conducting R & D activities in the sector of Industry and Environment.

Functions: 

• To carry out and promote the carrying out of applied research designed to facilitate the evaluation, development and use of local materials in industrial processes.
• To carryout research in various local and foreign industrial techniques and technologies and evaluate their suitability for adoption and alternative use in industrial production.
• To promote or provide facilities for the training of local personnel for carrying out scientific and industrial research.
