On January 12, 2014 Zanzibar celebrated the 50th Zanzibar Revolution Day anniversary (Golden Jubilee bash). The 2014 Revolution Day anniversary took place at Amaan Stadium in Unguja Zanzibar, blessed by traditional dances, armed forces parade and a 21 gun salute and display of artistic games by school children that depicted the history and fruits of the revolution.
The President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein used the occasion in his speech to remind the people on the importance of the Revolution as well as maintaining peace and stability as a major item in developing Zanzibar. During the anniversary the President of United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Jakaya Kikwete led invited guests including president Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, President Ikililou Dhoinine of Comoro, a minister from People’s Republic of China and other officials from Kenya and member of diplomatic corps to witness the celebrations.
