Peasant Day famously known as Nanenane is celebrated national-wide on eighth of August every year. The festival is organized and coordinated by Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives in collaboration with Tanzania Agriculture Society Organisation (TASO) involving Institutions, Ministries and individuals involved in agriculture.

In the past years the festival was celebrated on seventh of July every year focusing to a greater extent they on exhibiting achievements and challenges facing agricultural sector involving all stakeholders from village to national level.

The festival is celebrated at zonal level where by  Northern- Southern highlands zone the festival was held at John Mwakangale grounds in Mbeya. For Northern zone the celebration was at Themi grounds Arusha, while in Eastern zone was held at Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Morogoro and  for Lake zone the celebration was at Nyamhongolo Mwanza and last zone was Southern at Ngongo .
