Money must be accepted by the society as a medium of exchange. During the time currencies are issued they undergo continual changes; whereby each change aims at gaining and maintaining public confidence in the currency which is essential to the proper functioning of the economy.
To ensure banknotes are accepted they are produced and imbedded with the security features to make it extremely difficult to counterfeit. Counterfeits are a threat to the circulation of genuine national currency. Security features in currency notes act as a deterrent and safeguard to minimize the risk of counterfeiting.
