The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar marked 48^th anniversary of the revolution on 12^th January 2012, that brought to an end the Arab dominance on the Zanzibar Island. Zanzibar is now under the 6^th Phase Government led by Dr Ali Mohamed Shein. Earlier leaders were Sheikh Abeid Amani Karume the first and leading founder of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar succeeded by Sheikh Aboud Jumbe. The Third Phase was lead by Ali Hassan Mwinyi who was also the second President of The United Republic of Tanzania. President Mwinyi handed over to Dr. Salmin Amour who became the fourth president and Dr. Amani Abeid Karume the fifth president.
