On January 12, 2012 Zanzibar celebrated 49th anniversary since its independence from Arab administration. On 12th January 1964 revolutionaries from Zanzibar, led by John Okello marched to Stone Town Zanzibar and overthrew the Sultanate government. The event is celebrated every year at Aman Stadium in Unguja Zanzibar blessed by traditional dances, armed forces parade and school pupils mass display of artistic games.
